Take three of the most iconic British bands of all times. Add in an equally iconic British florist and mix with over 1,000 stems of amazing Colombian flowers. Stir well, making sure all the notes mix and blend to create a harmonious look and, cue the music, you have the perfect score for Flowers of Colombia’s biggest consumer event this year! Because, when Flowers of Colombia wanted to pay tribute to the UK, their second biggest market after the USA, how better than to say it with flowers.

Pablo Bazzani, from Plazoleta Flowers, growers of the most amazing Perfection alstroemeria, explained. “In Colombia we believe that when you grow with passion your flowers are better. Working with joy and love is our number one rule and one of the reasons we always have music playing in the greenhouses.”

For lead florist at McQueens, Alina Dheere Babaletsos (pictured above chatting with Pablo) the connection was totally logical. “Both music and flowers express feelings so its natural link up to celebrate these iconic British bands.”

First up, and very symbolic given the fabulous movie, Bohemian Rhapsody, had just been released, were flamboyant hand tieds that totally matched the amazing larger than life character that was Freddie Mercury, lead singer of Queen.

Featuring blowsy pink garden roses from Alexandra Farms, Orange Crush standard roses, red alstroemeria and purple Aster all complimented by Thlaspi foliage, the bouquets were presented to the London Queen Fan Club outside the Apollo Hammersmith along with a special plaque.

Also receiving a special framed picture was the manager of the De Hems Dutch Café Bar where Rolling Stones manager Andrew Oldham used to while away the hours! With a fabulous display of deep pink Hydrangea, red roses and mixed foliage’s the iconic Rolling Stones tongue logo, first designed in 1970, was truly brought to life.

Finally Pablo and the film crew headed off to Abbey Road, recording studio of the Beatles, name of their last album and the strongest link with world’s biggest ever selling band.

Oh yes, and the perfect place to give away Flowers of Colombia. Fans, only expecting to see the musical home of their favourite band, were not only delighted to receive gorgeous headdresses made of deep pink Hermosa roses, Electra spray roses and Amico and Casterlero carnations but more than happy to wear their floral crowns as they emulated the famous walk across the zebra crossing!

For Pablo and the Asocolflores team behind the Flowers of Colombia marketing campaign, the Flower Tribute Tour was the perfect way to share with UK consumers the secret ingredient that makes Colombian flowers that extra bit special.

Not just amazingly bright and vibrant blooms but the perfect choice for florists who want quality, value and the knowledge that the flowers are grown in the very best way both environmentally and socially using the strong guidelines of the world renowned Florverde social programme.
