What is Good Florist Event?

A fun, fact filled day where like-minded florists can get together to talk, network and share ideas in a totally relaxed and informal way.

And, because this is all about YOU, there are no sponsors, nobody will be trying to sell you anything and the speakers will only talk about the subject!

Best of all, because we’re working ‘in the round’ rather than sitting in rows everyone will get to meet everyone and go away with fresh ideas, renewed enthusiasm and new friends as well.

What's happening?

We've put together a range of sessions designed to cover all the key subjects that matter to your business … including the dreaded Brexit.

PROGRAMME

Saturday 2nd March

20.30   For those who are staying overnight we’ll be meeting in the bar – bowl on down and start the networking!

Sunday 3rd March

09.00 Registration with ice breaker coffee and pastries

10.00 Official Opening

10.15 Who wants to be a millionaire?
OK, maybe making a million is a big ask but we reckon we can get you up the money ladder. Because everyone has a clever trick, idea or design that gets them more sales. Be it add-ons, new ways of buying, upselling, vouchers, classes, clever videos made on your phone in minutes, or just plain better pricing policies, there are LOADS of ways you can make more money. In this round table, ‘Ask the Audience’ session we’ll be sharing ideas that can boost Mother’s Day sales and beyond; pad and paper provided for all the clever ideas that will come out!

11.30 Morning coffee

11.45 Making your ecommerce and online sales work harder
It doesn’t matter who built your website it’s what YOU do with it that matters. Something Karen Lindsay of Flowers of Kilmarnock has learned only too well. A perfectly normal florist (bricks & mortar shop, kicked out Interflora last year, 6 staff and increasing sales) she’s learned tricks and tips that have seen her web sales rocket to at least 100 a month and rising. Can you do the same? Follow some of Karen’s ideas and we reckon so. If you want to bring your laptop or device the hotel Wi-Fi will be on so you can do some of them instantly!

13.00 Lunch break

14.00 Brexit Schmexit .. what it means for the flower industry
Who knows what will happen and when. But one thing is certain; flower buying will never be the same again so you need to be prepared. Which is why we’re delighted that Nigel Jenney, the down to earth, oh so practical boss of the Fresh Produce Consortium is joining us for this session You see he’s the man who is in daily contact with the ‘powers that be’ to help make sure flowers are treated as fairly and robustly as they can be. Add in some of our fab GFG supporter wholesalers, who’ll be bringing their own help and advice to the table, and this is a session that every florist, wholesaler and importer should be in the room for.

15.15 Afternoon tea

15.30 You are the champions .. never forget it!

It’s bally tough being a florist these days. Yes we get to work with an amazing product and make a lot of people happy but if, like so many, you work on your own or in a small team, who do you talk to on the grey days. US; all the people in the room who know exactly how you feel, probably have the same concerns and can totally relate to your pain! In short you are not alone. In this session we talk honestly about the ups and downs, how to keep going however manky the customers, however deathly the sales whilst making sure we celebrate all that is wonderful so that we’re totally ready for Mother’s Day and beyond.
