Laura of Wyld Strwbry shares her Top 10 designs
We've asked Laura Gaponenko of Wyld Strwbry about her business ethos in our HIMI Q&A here but what about her design style? Here she shares ten of her favourite designs .... we adore the dog collar!
Creating this bridal wheelchair arrangement with white roses, freesia and gypsophila was a fun challenge. The bride really wanted something unique and when I was doing research for inspiration, I realised there was very little out there, so I knew I had to come up with something spectacular!
This is one of my favourite bridal bouquets. I loved the vintage feel the purple Fifth Avenue Roses gave it - I’d almost describe them as earl grey - gorgeous! Mimosa is one of my favourite foliages to work with, especially in a bouquet because it just moves so beautifully and adding a bit of Eryngium adds impact.
The poor chrysanthemum gets such a hard time, but you can’t help but love this purple pom pom chrysanth. Teamed with the cream roses, ammi, olive and eucalyptus this free-flowing mantle arrangement was the perfect backdrop for my bride and groom’s summer boathouse wedding.
This fun dog collar added an extra special touch to my bride and groom’s day, Rosie the chocolate lab was a joy to work with, the only challenge was sneaking her into the registry office!
Growing up in America we always made big deal out of Halloween and pumpkin carving, it’s a shame we don’t get as much into the spirit of it in the UK. That’s why I love making these fun-filled pumpkin arrangements in the autumn, you can use so many different types of foliage and flowers and really get creative with your textures.
Simple but effective, this little ring cushion is a great addition to your wedding day, especially if you are having a more intimate gathering or registry office wedding where you can’t decorate the venue beforehand.
Succulents are one of my favourite plants to grow so it’s nice to use them in bouquets to give an unusual twist on a focal flower. A spot of oasis glue and a skewer does the trick, and the brilliant thing is that they stay fresh for a long time; you can always replant them afterwards by removing the top section of the succulent and placing it in soil.
Another free-flowing bridal bouquet, this time with vibrant pinks and purples to really set off the cream roses.
A spring flower bouquet is hard to beat, this beautiful pastel creation is lovely for Mother’s Day. Choosing from all the many varieties of tulips is challenging; I particularly love the parrot tulip in this bouquet!
Finally .... all my favourite spring flowers! I just adore the peach hues of the roses, ranunculus and poppies and the yellow of the eucalyptus stuartiana autumn - just to confuse you!
