New voice for professional florists in Ireland

There’s exciting news for Irish florists with the announcement that the Institute of Flowers, the only association for Ireland’s professional florists, will officially launch on October 21st.

Through Institute membership, professional florists will gain access to expert resources, tailored training, and ongoing support designed to enhance skills and success. Members can connect with a vibrant community of florists, attend exclusive events, and take part in nationwide competitions.

Open to professional florists based in Ireland, The Institute of Flowers has been set up to further digitalisation, AI, competitiveness, leadership, succession planning and sustainability within the sector, futureproofing it for generations to come.

The organisation aims to support members to flourish and grow as a result of networking, training and upskilling opportunities. And, as the collective voice for the sector, the Institute advocates for the recognition of florists as valued, professional members of the Irish business community and of local communities throughout the country.

Acting Chairperson, Fionnuala McAuley said, “There is a huge amount of creativity, talent and expertise within the sector that we need to preserve and share with upcoming generations. From playing a crucial role in life events for families and communities in towns and localities across the country, to large corporate events and high-end weddings, Irish florists are a dynamic and talented part our SME and business community.”

Fionnuala continued; “Together, we’re shaping the future of floristry in Ireland by fostering collaboration, creativity, and excellence. The Institute will support florists by helping them to upskill and boost their business acumen and expertise. We will also provide networking opportunities so our community can support each other, uplift and benefit of the whole sector.”

The organisation’s inaugural training programme ‘Bridal Design & Styling’, in association with Skillnet Ireland’s Positive2Work, will be run by renowned floral designer, educator and sustainability champion Sabine Darrall who will share innovative sustainability techniques and cutting-edge AI tools with participants. The training event takes place on Sunday 20th and Monday 21st October.

Following the two-day Skillnet training programme, The Institute of Flowers will host the Blooming Forward Networking Event, sponsored by Skillnet Ireland and Van Der Plas, where a host of professional speakers including Caroline Marshall Foster, Editor, Florist Magazine and Adele Roche, Colour & Design Consultant, will celebrate the official launch of the Institute.
