Porta Nova Say It With Flowers
Renowned rose growers Porta Nova and other major industry players are taking the #flowerboostchallenge further with the launch of a pan European campaign that aims to help florists build support and sales at local level.
The core of the campaign is based on an initiative whereby Dutch companies were ‘challenged’ to buy flowers and plants direct from growers to give to their staff or other worthy recipients … a way of creating some sales for growers and avoiding more wastage. However Porta Nova realised that that didn’t really help wholesalers or florists and that giving away flowers was not a long term option.
So they looked at how they could take the concept and develop it and have come up with a two pronged attack that florists can link into as they re-open their shops.
Step 1 is to challenge local companies to buy flowers … be it to celebrate their workers with a work from home bouquet or plant or to give away to the many front line carers in their area. They then challenge another company to do the same and the campaign should snowball with of course the florist setting the campaign in motion gaining sales.
Step 2 is the “#SayIt With” campaign; not a new hashtag but the perfect way of reminding consumers that flowers literally do – as our Editor Caroline Marshall-Foster has always said - say anything to anyone on any occasion! The brightly banded tag lines can be attached to any photo and be used to either personalise action shots you’ve taken or used in pre-supplied, downloadable social media marketing material.
Launched last week and led by industry marketing expert Paul Poelstra, the campaign is scheduled to launch in France, Holland, Germany, Italy and of course the UK.
The campaign has already attracted support from major media and corporate supporters including Chrysal, Oasis Floral Products, Federfiori, Thursd, Fleur Creatif, Flowerweb, Floral Fundamentals, Good Florist Guide and us at The Florist Trade Magazine but it really is a case of the more the merrier so if you want to be involved simply contact Paul
The special website will be launched on Thursday and they are now looking for florists in the UK to take the lead and use the campaign to encourage people to think of flowers as the perfect way to connect and send messages and buy from a local flower shop.
All the campaign details are on the Portanove website and if this sounds like the sort of campaign you’d like to be part of simply email campaign manager Paul Poelstra
