Help for Freelancers facing tough 2023
Whilst freelancing in the florist sector work is often part of a team with all the fun and camaraderie, the truth is that freelancing isn’t all roses. Add in potentially tougher times with events being cut and number of gigs reduced and you can see why international facilitator and speaker, Roy Sheppard predicts a tough year ahead, and one where mental resilience will be particularly important.
Roy explains, “As someone who has freelanced through two recessions, this will be an extremely challenging time for freelancers, as companies look to reduce costs.
In addition, with large employers like Meta and Twitter shedding thousands of staff, more employees may be forced into freelance work as they strive to make ends meet. This in turn will create greater competition within the existing freelancer marketplace.”
However rather than just talk the talk, and in response to numerous challenges faced by self-employed people in the creative industries, Roy Sheppard is sharing, free of charge, his online course with 19 lessons called ‘Be Stronger: mentally, emotionally, physically and financially’.
The course, which comprises a series of video tutorials, is designed to equip viewers with advice that leads them to feel uplifted and more in control of their working lives.
Roy has identified several challenges which will be felt particularly sharply by freelancers, especially those who work alone, rather than within a team.
The new community platform, where freelancers can collaborate, has two additional courses, namely “The Secrets of Successful Freelancing” and “Referrals: How to Harness their Awesome Power”. In addition, there are useful downloadable resources, such as a freelance contract template.
