Viva Magenta - the Pantone colour of 2023
Inspired by the red of Cochineal, one of the most precious dyes belonging to the natural dye family as well as one of the strongest and brightest the world has known, the new 2023 colour from Pantone is “designed to reconnect us to original matter, invoke the forces of nature, galvanizes our spirit and help build our inner strength.”
So said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Colour Institute when they launched PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta … their 2023 Colour of the Year.
Like last year’s Veri Peri, it’s been specially created by Pantone and vibrates with vim and vigour and will actually work brilliantly with the other hot trend for 2023, Barbie Pink, announced by Manuel Rucar in a recent Danziger Live as a colour everyone will be asking for next year,
According to Pantone Viva Magenta is powerful and empowering. It revels in pure joy, encourages experimentation and self-expression without restraint and is an electrifying and boundaryless shade that can manifest as a stand-out statement.
Speaking about the new colour Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Colour Institute said “In an age of technology Viva Magenta is a shade rooted in nature and expressive of a new signal of strength. It is brave and fearless, and a pulsating colour whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration, writing a new narrative.”
In fact, as far as the people at Pantone are concerned Viva Magenta welcomes anyone and everyone with the same verve for life and rebellious spirit being a colour that is audacious, full of wit and inclusive of all. We just think it is all rather yummy and gorgeous!
