Final 100 Faces of Floristry Announced

Final 100 Faces of Floristry Announced

As part of the inaugral National Florist Day, the nominations for the first ever Face of Floristry Awards came in their hundreds … in fact 533 of them!  There then began the painstaking task of removing multiple entries, cross referencing all websites and social media pages and correcting email addresses.

Once HQ were happy, the details went to a first stage discussion with the Ambassadors and full Good Florist Guide Council and then the final list of 242 nominees was assessed and judged by Stephanie Harris, owner of The Rose Garden Florists in Great Dunmow, Essex, Karen Lindsay of Karen’s of Kilmarnock and Morgan-Douglas Nuth who now runs MDN Floral | Business | Consultancy after 30 years of owning retail florist shops.

And then the challenge really started.  To whittle down 242 people to 100 Faces of Floristry.  Not only a task that required the Panel to check out everyone’s social channels but most importantly see how the reason for the nomination stacked up.

Because the Faces of Floristry isn’t a popularity contest … we weren’t looking to see who could attract the biggest number of votes but, based on a 75-word nomination that would prompt the panel to investigate further, put together 100 People from across our industry who could represent our industry for the next 11 months.

And it was a tough job for the Panel.  Not only did it take far longer than planned but caused more than a few lumps in the throat as they read about the challenges people had faced, the way some florists had helped their community and the sheer gutted determination to succeed despite everything.

In fact, as Stephanie told us: “I always knew people working in this industry were tough, caring and determined but this project really showed me just how much. It was, at times, a humbling experience.”  A view shared by her fellow panellists, as Karen and Morgan explained when we caught up with them just prior to the weeklong series of announcements.

“Not only were you having to choose from a big pool but by looking at everyone’s social media you got to see how hard they were working to make their businesses successful.” said Morgan.  For Karen it was a unique chance to ‘meet’ florists and suppliers she had not come across.  “It may have taken a lot of time but was worth it as I got to see so many new people and I’ll be honest pick up some new ideas myself along the way.”

And the winners?  Well, they were announced in a series of Live presentations by Caroline Marshall-Foster throughout the week of National Florist Day.  Using the now famous pot (he’s been called Derek) she randomly picked out 20 names each night and announced them not knowing who she would be talking about.  In some cases that caused giggles, in others it reduced her to tears but with more than 45,000 viewers over the week it was a true celebration of some fabulous people who now can display their limited edition certificates and feel proud.

The full list of winners is below ... the 2025 Faces of Floristry 2025 will open for nominations on 1st March 2025.  If you know someone special that you think should be on the list start thinking about it now …. 75 words could make all the difference to them.
