National Florist Day launched for 2023
Whilst independent florists may be considered the 7th emergency service, there has never been a ‘day’ to celebrate the amazing service, kindness and determination of this incredibly powerful, but often unsung sector nor the fabulous opportunities floristry opens up.
All that is about to change with the launch of National Florist Day in 2023. Scheduled to take place on 13th May 2023 and with a whole host of activities planned, National Florist Day will not just celebrate everything that is amazing about independent florists but will engage consumers in a way not seen before.
Announcing the news, Caroline Marshall-Foster, MD of Purple Spotted Media and owner of The Florist Trade Magazine and Good Florist Guide who devised the idea said: “Having grown up in the industry (my Mum was a florist) I know just how amazing independent florists are. Whether its dealing with the happy days like weddings, birthdays and celebrations or the oh so sad occasions like grief, they are a phenomenal band of people I have had the pleasure of working with.”
She continued; “Now is the time to harness that brilliance and present a real showcase of all that is wonderful about our sector, the amazing things independent florists do and encourage more people, especially the next generation, into the sector by showing them the opportunities and job satisfaction.”
A view shared by the fabulous attendees from all parts of the industry who took part in the launch meeting on January 12th and who gave their wholehearted support for the idea with pledges of support, both physical and financial.
With key representatives from British Florist Association, Covent Garden Market Authority Direct 2 Florist, Flower Circus, Flower Council of Holland, Good Florist Guide, Interflora, Oasis Floral Products, and Tom Brown Wholesale and led by Richard Eagleton, former CEO of McQueens, the discussion was both lively and constructive with some brilliant ideas on how to take the project forward.
Next step is to finalise a plan but mark the date in your diary ... this could be a lot of fun!!
