IPM Essen takes off big time in Germany
It is the biggest show of its kind in the world … we are talking HUGE … and you will need at least two days if you want to see everything … actually two days just to see all the floristry elements … but for a showcase of the flower, plant and sundries world then IPM ESSEN is the one!!
We can’t detail everything that is going on … you’ll need to visit their website … but we can give you a teensy-weensy taste of what’s on offer.
Innovations Showcase
The competition for the best plant innovations has been held at IPM ESSEN since 2008. Judged by an expert jury a phenomenal range of flowering and green indoor plants, spring-flowering, bedding and balcony plants, cut flowers, perennials, woody plants and tub plants, will be assessed with the winner in each category awarded the coveted "IPM Novelty 2023" on the opening day, 24 January.
On the Wednesday and Thursday there will be seminars and tours all under the heading of "More Green Cities for Europe"
Green career
On Wednesday the show focusses on young people in the sector whilst on Thursday the Partner Country – this year it is Great Britain – presents a "Quintessentially Green & British" event that will discuss, amongst other things, sustainability, the value of new plants and the current marginal farm model.
Show your Colours Award
Who has the best plant marketing story? The results will be announced in the Show Your Colours Award, jointly organised by IPM ESSEN and BIZZ Communications, to see which horticultural company has come up with the best marketing plan.
IPM Fair Cup
The theme of the three-part competition in the categories "Bouquet", "Green Hero in a Pot" and "Container Planting" is "MISSION: FLOWER FUTURE" ... a direct response to the wake-up calls of the young, climate and environmentally conscious generation which cannot be ignored. Florists and gardeners, from apprentices to master craftsmen, will express their love of diverse and flowering nature with a personal statement.
Experience trend floristry
And another must for all florists is the invitation from the Association of German Florists to the inspiring FDF World in the Green City, Hall 1A. Top national and international floral designers will meet on the revolving stage and inspire the trade public with floral creations. The numerous product presentations provide new input for a successful business year. Among other things, visitors can look forward to the new "justchrys 2023" collection, which shows practical and creative ideas for the multi-talented chrysanthemum.
There will also be a lot to discover and try out at the large action and trend stand at the BLOOM's World special show. The range includes event floristry for weddings, natural funeral floristry and creative workshops for visitors to take part in whilst the blossoming Relax & Talk Area invites you to specialist talks and to exchange ideas with experts.
And if all that wasn’t enough the show is packed with exhibitors showcasing every type of product under the sun with the new Concept Store – an open and modern retail concept show packed with complementary ranges for the green sector from trendy tableware to home textiles, soaps and edible goodies! All this on top of all the normal exhibitors of florist sundries you’d expect.
As we say you’ll need a strong pair of walking shoes and buckets of energy but if you want to kick start the year with some serious inspiration head over to Essen 24 – 27 January - visit their website here for all the details.
