Successful tour for Turkish growers

Following a tour of the UK, 10 Turkish growers have returned to their farms with a greater understanding of the UK market and strong links formed.

The growers visited a number of facilities in London, Hull and Belfast, taking the opportunity to forge links and learn the needs of the UK buyer ranging from traditional florist to multiple retailers.

In a special presentation by leading consultant to the UK floral industry, Karen Barnes they were entertained and informed about the UK market and trends based on Karen’s extensive experience of both Product Development and Trends forecasting.

In addition to learning about the UK’s requirements and trends from leading consultants, retailers and wholesalers, the Turkish businesses were able to explain why the Mediterranean region, particularly Antalya, has become the hub for carnation cultivation due to its ideal climate, which supports year-round production. Turkey produces various types of carnations, including standard and spray varieties, in a wide range of colours such as red, pink, white, and yellow.
