Waitrose axes online flower delivery service

Waitrose axes online flower delivery service

Waitrose, the upmarket supermarket division of the John Lewis Partnership, closed its online gift bouquet service on 1st November.

The company will still sell £4 - £10 bunches, including Waitrose Foundation roses, via its online grocery shopping service, has a well-developed and enhanced plant range and instore flower displays will remain.  However, their full-service Waitrose Florist service has been closed.

The news was first announced via an email to customers and confirmed to us by their Press Office. Whilst obviously unable to disclose too much company information, they indicated that the decision was based on effective ROI rather than customer numbers telling us;

 “This move allows us to focus our investment in our core business. This includes offering exciting, quality foods that our customers love, whilst strengthening our support for British farmers. Customers can still purchase plants and flowers from our branches and Waitrose.com.”

The Press Office also confirmed that no redundancies were necessary and the relationship with eFlorist was no longer in place.
