When Downton came to Kew … in true Crawley style!
A part of the iconic Kew Gardens was transformed into a feast of floral fashion when over 30 fabulous florists created the British version of the amazing global sensation of Fleurs de Villes Downton Abbey.
Launched in tandem with the long-awaited finale of the Downton Abbey film franchise, the florists created their floral interpretations of the series best loved characters … each made exclusively from flowers, foliage’s and accessories like seeds to produce designs that stunned and thrilled the visitors.
With flower supply co-ordinated by Tom Brown Wholesale, alongside the mannequins were some super installations depicting scenes from Downton life ... ranging from tea party settings to the iconic staircase… all of which produced a thousand and more selfies.
The show, part of a global tour organised by Tina Barkley and Karen Marshall, founders of the global floral sensation Fleurs de Villes, transported visitors into the world of Downton Abbey through an enchanting collection of Fleurs de Villes' famous fresh floral mannequins inspired by the unforgettable characters and iconic period fashion, including glamorous gowns featured in the highly anticipated film.
And if all that wasn’t enough visitors could watch florists throughout the day in the live botanical demonstrations and talks from local florists and experts at Fleurs de Villes JARDIN presented by Mastercard. An area made even more stunning by a team from Good Florist Guide who took the Mastercard colours to create four giant – and we mean giant! - urns and a massive, towering to the roof, backdrop. They weren’t eligible for a prize – a conscious decision as founder Caroline Marshall-Foster was a judge – but it was a truly winning installation that looked amazing.
But for the rest of the florists, it was a nail-biting moment as the organisers announced the results which were as follows.
Most Realistic - Wildabout Flowers
Most Creative – British Florist Association
Florist Favourite – judged by their peers - Fabulous Flowers
Best in Show Mannequin - Acacia Creative Studios
Best in Show installation – Kathryn Josey Flowers
Fan Favourite – judged by the public – Amega Fleur Floral Design
For now, we have featured just the winners but if you want to see the UK version in all its glory and maybe compare and contrast it with what other florists around the world have done follow Fleurs de Villes on Instagram and all will be revealed!
