Wildabout say Thank You
Another London florist has 'said it with flowers', this time Wildabout who have festooned Chelsea and Westminster Hospital with hearts.
It's not the first time the team have thanked the C&W team though as Leanne Roberts-Hewitt, MD of the florist and events company explained in her blog. "As our industry came to a standstill and we closed our doors, we wanted to spread some joy during these difficult times to our amazing NHS workers, and of course we did it with flowers!”
After a number of generous donations we had a huge selection of flowers at our studio that needed a home, including 50,000 stems of Roses, 20,000 Tulips and 5,000 hydrangeas, that we are proud to have saved and were able to use for this incredible cause.
Our hope was to shine some light and say a huge thank you to our NHS who are working incredibly hard during these unprecedented and incredibly difficult circumstances.” We know how flowers can really help uplift your mood and it was our way of saying thank you and spreading the Love. We were overwhelmed with the incredible response and thanks that poured in, and it proved how such a small gesture could mean so much …. a true testament to the POWER OF FLOWERS."
A few weeks later the team put their heads together to come up with something more permanent as Leanne explained.
"After gifting over 1,500 bouquets to key workers at 6 of our local hospitals we wanted to find a way to celebrate the NHS with a more permanent structure. Our installations are always vibrant, colourful and fun and we felt the rainbow hearts were the perfect way to show our appreciation for everything the hospital staff do. We chose Chelsea and Westminster as it’s particularly close to our hearts – I had both my children there, and my business partner Andy was treated there last year for pneumonia so it was our little way to say thank you!
The hearts are made from silk petals and were constructed in our studio by two team members (social distanced at more than 2 metres apart, with gloves and masks), and they were installed by one of our directors Andrew Devonport and his boyfriend who live together. We hope the display brings a little love to everyone at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital during this incredibly difficult time."
Having cycled up to see it for herself the Ed can happily report that not only does it look gorgeous but is a delight for patients and staff as they enter and leave (the backs are just as beautiful as the fronts) one of London's busiest hospitals.
