Joe Massie becomes BFA Florist of the Year

The end of September saw six fabulous finalists go head-to-head in a gruelling series of challenges.  The goal?  To win the British Florist Association Florist of the Year, sponsored by Smithers Oasis, and go on to represent the UK in the Florint World Cup in The Netherlands next August where the winner will be supported by FlorismartDirect.

However before then they had had to compete in heats around the country and then wait several months to find out if they had got through as the final six were selected from the results of all the heats!

Over the day of the competition finalists had to make 4 different designs, a Bridal Bouquet, Hand Tied, Arrangement and Surprise Design and then wait till the evening to see who had taken the grand prize!

At the Awards dinner, presented by BFA Chair Nikki Meader and co-hosted by Morgan Douglas Nuth, the winners were finally announced with Joseph Massie taking the grand title and Charlotte Davies and Helen Pannitt, taking second and third places respectively.

We'll be doing a full interview with Joseph when he gets back from his travels but in the meantime we send our congratulations to all the finalists – which included Hannah Beckley, Sarah Horne and Laura Pannitt.  Having seen the work up close and personal we can honestly say they were all fabulous!
